Use this guide to prepare Astraea for low-connectivity environments: install it as an app, let it cache intelligently, and understand exactly what works offline versus online.

Install Astraea as an App

On Desktop (Chrome/Edge):

•Look for the install icon (⊕) in your browser's address bar
•Click it and select "Install"
•Astraea will open in its own window like a native app
•Find it in your Start Menu or Applications folder

On Mobile (iOS/Android):

•iOS Safari: Tap the Share button → "Add to Home Screen"
•Android Chrome: Tap the menu (⋮) → "Add to Home Screen"
•The Astraea icon will appear on your home screen
•Launch it like any other app

Automatic Offline Caching

Astraea automatically caches content as you use it:

•Conversations: All your chats are saved locally
•Messages: Every message is cached for offline access
•Files: Uploaded documents and images are stored
•Generated Content: AI-generated images and code are saved
•Course Materials: Educational content you've viewed

Using Astraea Offline

Send Messages Offline

You can still send messages when offline:

1.Type your message as normal
2.Click send - it will be queued locally
3.You'll see a Pending indicator
4.When you reconnect, messages automatically sync
5.The indicator changes to Sent

💡 Tip: Your messages are safe! They're stored locally and will sync as soon as you're back online.

Check Sync Status

Monitor your connection and sync status:

Online - All features available

Syncing - Uploading pending changes

Offline - Limited features, data cached

Look for the status indicator in the top-right corner of the app.

Manage Offline Storage

Control what's stored offline:

•Go to Settings → Offline Storage
•View how much space Astraea is using
•Clear old cached data if needed
•Choose which conversations to keep offline
•Set automatic cache limits

Before Going Offline:

When Back Online:

🔧Troubleshooting

Messages not syncing?

Check your internet connection. If online, try refreshing the page. Pending messages will sync automatically when connection is stable.

Can't see offline content?

Make sure you've visited the content while online first. Only previously loaded content is available offline.

App using too much storage?

Go to Settings → Offline Storage → Clear Cache. This will remove old cached data while keeping recent conversations.

Install button not showing?

Make sure you're using Chrome, Edge, or Safari. The install option appears after visiting the site a few times.
